This was a tough brew day. First I misread the strike temperature which resulted in a mash temp of 158 F instead of 148 F. I left lid off mash tun for first 15 minutes of mash until temp was lowered to 150 F and placed lid back on and started 60 min mash. The next mistake was only adding 0.25 lb of rice hulls instead of 0.5 lbs in the recipe. I did this because I had read to keep rice hulls under 3% of grain bill to avoid rice flavors. The result was a badly stuck sparge. Nothing I did would get it flowing. I had to strain the mash through a bucket with drilled holes in the bottom. Brew came out pretty well and is a tasty brew that would be worth brewing again, hopefully without all the issues. Definitely need to address stuck sparge. Brewed on Easter Sunday, which happened to be our all black German Shepherd Puck's birthday.
